Can you believe it’s almost Christmas?! 2024 fucking FLEW by. I swear I blinked and it was already December. This month I’m taking some time to reflect. The good and the bad. I am so proud of myself because I was able to accomplish some of the things on my vision board like moving to Miami. Things weren’t perfect, but at the end of the day we made it through. Have you ever role-played? Were you on the naughty list and Santa decided that you needed to be bent over for a spanking?

Whether it’s in person or online, role-play is when you act out an erotic fantasy for gratification. For example, the sexy cop or the doctor and the nurse.

Role-playing can be intimidating! Especially if you’re not into being theatrical, but sometimes it’s not about performing it’s about being intentional. Now how do you communicate with your partner that you want to try something new in the bedroom? Or even outside of the bedroom. First thing’s first, be open and honest with yourself. What are your fantasies and desires? What do your boundaries look like? Initiating the role-playing conversation can be a bit tricky especially if you don’t know how your partner will react. Here are some conversation starters:

“I know we haven’t really talked about this but what are some of your fantasies?”

“Have you ever tried role-playing before or have you thought about it?”

“Loving ears, I want to ask you about a certain topic but I’m afraid of being judged.”

Those are some examples on how I would navigate the role-play conversation with my partner. However, it is your decision on how you want to go about it! If you and your partner do decide to role-play make sure you discuss your safe word(s), boundaries, costumes, and safety. Open and honest communication is key. And remember to have fun with it!
