A Day In The Life With Our Founder 💁🏻♀️

Grab your vibrators, dildos, your fingers, lo que tú quieras! It’s Masturbation May! Last month we talked about how masturbation can be taboo for some of us. Depending on your culture, family dynamic, and societal norms masturbation is not an easy subject to talk about or even do. There is so much shame around women masturbating and experiencing pleasure. And some of us have probably never experienced an orgasm and that is OKAY. But it ends here! 😌
This Masturbation May, The P Files Newsletter wants to encourage you to show your body some self love and explore yourself! I know it can be intimidating, but don’t let fear stop you from experiencing yourself in a way you never thought you could. We say f*ck the shame, just masturbate!
Con Amor,
Lorena

Hey Chiquis! 💗 One week ago, I had the privilege to attend The Ruth’s list Florida She’s The Change Gala! It was such an honor to be in room full of bad a** Women in Office fighting for Reproductive Rights.
As I was getting dressed for the gala, I found myself questioning my makeup choices and my dress choice. I kept asking myself, “Is a red lip too bold for a work event?” “Will people take me serious?” “Do I look too sexy?”. Now I’m a curvy woman with very distinct features (shout out to my mom 🥰). When I wear very bold lips like this red one, I can literally tell when people are just staring at my lips. Through out my career in politics I’ve had moments where I’m not taken seriously because I’m wearing hoop earrings or because my makeup is done, I’m wearing heels and cute outfit. And I don’t look or dress like my other colleagues because that’s not who I am as a Latina; As a Chicana born and raised on the South Side of San Antonio, TX.
In this moment I couldn’t help but think about how Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wore hoops and red lipstick the day she got sworn into office and how she was inspired by Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor. The Congresswoman tweeted, "Lip+hoops were inspired by Sonia Sotomayor, who was advised to wear neutral-colored nail polish to her confirmation hearings to avoid scrutiny. She kept her red,".
I recently had a conversation with one of my homegirls about this who is also a Latina that works in politics. She mentioned that one of her worries when interviewing for jobs in this space is that she looks “too exotic”. Because being a Latina, a women of color in this space, the way that you carry yourself impacts the way that you are perceived. “Dress up nice but not too much.” “Wear make up, but not too much.” “Be confident but not too much".”
Well I say F**k all that! Show up 100% authentically yourself everyday in EVERY space you enter. In EVERY part of your life. And if they don’t receive you, then move on and go where you are valued. You can be sexy, smart, and in politics (or whatever field you’re in).
XO,
Lorena
